What Is the Formula for Cart Abandonment Rate?
Cart abandonment rate = (1 minus completed purchases divided by initiated checkouts) multiplied by 100. If 1,000 sessions reach the checkout and 300 complete a purchase, the abandonment rate is 70%. Track this by checkout step, not just as a total. Step-level data shows where the actual drop-off happens, not just that it happens.
