Did Wero Buy iDEAL?
No. Wero did not buy iDEAL. Both fall under the European Payments Initiative (EPI), a consortium of European banks building a pan-European payment infrastructure. iDEAL is operated by Currence and remains the primary online payment method in the Netherlands. Wero is a digital wallet product built on EPI’s network, currently available in Belgium, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. The relationship is shared infrastructure, not acquisition. iDEAL continues to operate as its own product under iDEAL 2.0.
